Why Wax Ledger

The tamper-evident tape protects the physical card, the IPFS CID protects the report’s integrity, the blockchain timestamp protects the timing and provenance, and full downloadable files give you complete transparency for your own review. This low-cost extra layer is part of what makes Wax Ledger reports more trustworthy than standard raw card listings — and more transparency when assessing a raw cards condition.

Card Condition Guidelines

We follow basic "eBay" raw card condition guidelines when assessing our cards. Key Considerations for eBay Raw Card Condition:

  • Near Mint or Better: The highest available option for raw cards. It is often compared to a "fresh out of the pack" state.
    • Expectation: Minor chipping on corners/edges, minor surface scratches, or minor indentations are allowed. No creases are permitted.
    • Grading Equivalent: In the hobby, this is generally considered roughly equivalent to a PSA 7 or 8.

  • Excellent (Lightly Played): Cards with clearly visible signs of wear.
    • Expectation: May have moderate corner wear, slightly rough edges, minor discoloration (like wax stains on the back), and minor surface wrinkles.

  • Very Good (Moderately Played): Shows moderate-to-heavy damage across the entire card.
    • Expectation: Visible corner rounding, moderate-to-heavy edge chipping, and multiple light creases.

  • Poor (Heavily Played): Extremely worn cards with major flaws.
    • Expectation: Heavily rounded or missing corners, major creases, tears, stains, and potential paper loss.
